Now is the time to prepare for our 9th annual Friends of the Poor Walk! For those of you who did not have the opportunity to walk with us last year, our route is a 3 mile walk which travels through Belle Isle. It is a beautiful path which allows us to proudly walk for our mission in the heart of Detroit. We have many exciting highlights planned for the day:
• Spend time with your Vincentian Family!
• Free T-Shirts will be provided for all walk participants, regardless of donations collected.
• Visit tables that will be on display from event sponsors.
• A picnic style lunch of hot dogs, chips, and beverages will be provided by Matchan Nutrition Center at the end of the walk.
The Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run is a national program that provides funding for local Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP)
Conferences and Councils. Funds raised from these events remain local, allowing local SVdP Conferences/Councils to provide emergency assistance
to those in need, regardless of race, origin, religion, or gender. Last year, over 4,500 SVdP Conferences and Councils provided 11.5 million service
hours to help almost 15 million people in the United States.
The Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run is a national event coordinated by the Development Team at the
National Council of the United States Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
